The annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, hajj, continued Wednesday as pilgrims took part in the symbolic stoning of Satan for a second day. About two million men, women and children from 188 countries are taking part in this year’s hajj, according to Saudi Arabian officials. The number of pilgrims allowed to take part this year was cut due to government fears over MERS respiratory virus infections. Last year 3.16 Muslims took part.
