PM disqualification case referred to CJP
QUETTA: The Supreme Court Monday referred to Chief Justice of Pakistan a case pertaining to disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Samaa reported.

A three-member bench headed by acting Chief Justice, Justice Jawad S.Khawaja comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Mushir Alam took up identical petitions filed by Gohar Nawaz Sindhu, PTI leader Ishaq Khakwani and PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The petitioners seek PM to be disqualified for the public office over his Aug 29 speech in joint parliament session in which he mentioned army chief's role as mediator between government and protesting parties.

During today’s course of hearing, Justice Jawad S.Khawaja said in his remarks that several important points/questions have been raised in the case which must reach a final conclusion.

The bench transferred further proceedings of the case to Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, requesting him to formulate another bench for joint hearing of all cases including those related to Article 62, 63 and 66 of the Constitution which deal with eligibility of a candidate for a public office.
