Microsoft Corporation Readies Cortana Assistant For iOS, Android As Standalone App

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced today that its personal voice assistant, Cortana, will be rolled out for Android and iOS devices this summer. The latest move comes as increased competition to Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Siri and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Now. More importantly, the much-discussed digital voice assistant boasts a greater range of features on Windows 10 PCs and mobiles.
The voice companion will be installed on Android and iPhones, as part of the company’s pledge to connect Cortana to all smartphones. For obvious reasons, some features available on the Windows version of Cortana are dedicated solely to the Microsoft-based operating platform, including hands-free compatibility. You won’t be able to use Cortana to open applications and change the settings in the Android or iOS editions either.
